DENIM DAZE
Denim on denim used to be one of the biggest fashion faux pas ever. Now the trend is a huge buzz and is all over magazines and social media. A few years ago, I never would've dared to set foot near this style and I was actually really against the whole idea. It took several months for me to build up the courage to try it out and now it's one of my favorite off-duty looks! I learned a few helpful tips on stacking denim that I think you'll find very useful.
Here they are:
- Don't combine denim that is the same wash or weight. It's best to mix and match so that it doesn't all look like one big denim suit. A light denim chambray top works perfectly with a dark jean bottom. (Exception: one-piece denim overalls, rompers, or dresses are obviously okay.)
- Remember which denim shade flatters your body best. Don't forget that lighter shades tend to draw attention to that area. Dark shades help hide areas and make them appear thinner.
- Don't over do it. If you're stacking denim, don't get too carried away and throw on a denim jacket over the denim shirt and finish it off with a denim bag...whoa...nobody likes a denim overload!
