Denim on denim used to be one of the biggest fashion faux pas ever. Now the trend is a huge buzz and is all over magazines and social media. A few years ago, I never would've dared to set foot near this style and I was actually really against the whole idea. It took several months for me to build up the courage to try it out and now it's one of my favorite off-duty looks! I learned a few helpful tips on stacking denim that I think you'll find very useful.
Here they are:

  1. Don't combine denim that is the same wash or weight. It's best to mix and match so that it doesn't all look like one big denim suit. A light denim chambray top works perfectly with a dark jean bottom. (Exception: one-piece denim overalls, rompers, or dresses are obviously okay.)

  2. Remember which denim shade flatters your body best. Don't forget that lighter shades tend to draw attention to that area. Dark shades help hide areas and make them appear thinner.

  3. Don't over do it. If you're stacking denim, don't get too carried away and throw on a denim jacket over the denim shirt and finish it off with a denim bag...whoa...nobody likes a denim overload!
